A photo exhibition named “MACAU IS A SHOWCASE” is open, since Monday, 29, at the Clubhouse of the Macau Club in Toronto.Co-organized by this Club and the International Institute of Macau, the event displays works made available by members of the Macau Photographic Society.
The display intends to make show “a city with compact modes of ethnic and cultural happenings of all sorts, origins and proveniences, some stemming from traditions of local residents, others where the fashion, languages and expressions of multiple other traditions and pulsating modernity unfold themselves out”.It is also a land of festivals, of “big ethnic and religious references in the Chinese or Western traditions”
The exhibition was inaugurated by Joe Chen, President of the Macau Club, and by Jorge Rangel, President of IIM.Rangel who was in town to address a seminar at the University of Waterloo, took the opportunity to get together with the numerous guests present.
The works on display will be shown again next September at the Portuguese Consulate in Toronto, proceeding to Vancouver and then to California.A similar exhibition will also be held in Brazil where shows are scheduled in Rio de Janeiro, several cities of Sao Paulo and the Brazilian Northeast.
